It is true that over the years, Merck has built a strong brand worldwide, in the pharmaceutical market, with its unconditional commitment to Innovation, Quality and Corporate Social Responsibility. Merck has been fighting against schistosomiasis, more commonly known as bilharzia and is a trusted partner of the World Health Organization (WHO) in fighting Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD). Besides the opening of the new Merck office in Addis Ababa, Karim Bendhaou, Managing Director Africa at Merck Serono also announced the company’s engagement in two corporate responsibility projects in Ethiopia:
• The Merck Praziquantel Donation Program
• The donation of Minilabs through Merck’s Philanthropic organization, the Global Pharma Health Found.
Andalem is glad that a multinational company with such a strong culture of Innovation and commitment to social responsibility has an integrative approach to establish the first regional hub to cover Sudan, Ethiopia, and French-speaking Africa.
